Practice Update and the Return of the Blog

A long time ago, like a really long time, 17 years, a very good friend of mine advised I write a blog on my site to help my SEO. What I found was I didn’t do it for the SEO, I did it because I had things to say. That full project still exists on Wordpress. So. Much. Has. Happened. since I wrote that first post. There is also a nearly 10 year gap between the last one and this one. But here we are, a new blog post, a new website and a new epoch of my practice. I pulled the posts that still feel relevant and I can get behind over to this site so feel free to browse. If you really want to see my evolution, I dare you to go read the rest of them :).

So, what is going on in my practice these days? I’m still a Relational Psychotherapist. I am perhaps even more solidly embedded in that approach than I ever was after 8 years of teaching at the Toronto Institute for Relational Psychotherapy. I have shifted the majority of my work over to the Clinical Supervision/Consultation side of things. Teaching newer therapists how to do this work with presence, authenticity and bravery is my most favourite thing in the whole world. I still see clients, mostly the ones who are committed to longer term work and those that ask to return.

But is there anything new? Well yes there is! I am excited to announce I am taking on two student therapists completing their Masters level training in counselling and psychotherapy. These students will be part of my practice for the duration of their 8 month practicum. They will be offering lower cost therapy at $80/session. For context, my regular rate is $160/session right now. They will be working and learning under my close supervision and I hope to set them on their way to becoming really excellent therapists.

I will be blogging again more regularly, I hope. I have lots to say about the practice and the world that may be helpful to someone. I’m appreciating that I am able to keep learning and growing. I am especially pleased that it’s so easy to add blogs on this new site.

So hello again, welcome and stay tuned for what is next. It feels good to be back.
